Install Guide for Windows® Vista® |
This note provides instruction for installing S3 Graphics®
Chrome display drivers and associated utilities for Windows Vista
operating systems.
Exact install steps may vary depending
whether your software package contains the setup tool and whether you are doing a first time or update installation.
Instructions assume your driver package is uncompressed and located on
a CD or DVD drive mapped to drive D. If installation is from another source, you may
need to manually specify the location of your package during the
installation process.
Install software only AFTER you have installed the hardware in your system.
Follow the hardware installation instruction provided by your board vendor. Windows Vista uses Plug and Play detection to assist in the installation of new hardware. Your new graphics board must be installed before software installation is attempted so that the operating system can detect the presence of the new hardware.
If this is an Update install, start with Step 2.
Step 1. As Windows Vista launches, the operating system may recognize your S3 Graphics product. If it does, it will install a Microsoft-provided device driver for any device it recognizes. Installation status will be reported. As the installation finishes, a Windows Vista message box will tell you if a restart is required. Restart if requested. If Windows Vista does not recognize your new graphics processor, continue with the following steps.Step 2. Insert your CD/DVD with S3 Graphics software. The CD/DVD should auto-run the install tool.If the CD/DVD does not autorun, click here to run SETUP.EXE.Step 3. Proceed with the installation by responding to any on screen prompts that appear.
To manually navigate to setup, click Start, Run and Browse to D:\S3Graphics\WindowsVista\SETUP.EXE (where D: is your CD-ROM drive, or the equivalent location for the Setup.exe installation program). Click Open. Installation should proceed similar to the method described below.
IF YOU CANNOT FIND THE SETUP PROGRAM or do not want to locate the drivers automatically, select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), click Next, and browse to the directory where the graphics display adapter driver files reside.
Step 4. If a window appears asking you to accept the license agreement, to continue the installation you must click I accept and then click Next.
Step 5. An installation window may appear and report the progress of your installation.
Step 6. Note that the screen may go blank for a second or two during the driver installation process. This is normal.
Step 7. The install process may take a few minutes.
Step 8. If a Completing ... Wizard or a Setup Complete window appears, click Finish.Depending on the current state of the system and the software installed, a reboot may be required to fully initialize the software. To fully initialize your update, click Start, Shutdown, Restart.
Step 9. Congratulations. Your S3 Graphics Chrome display driver software is now installed.
Once the S3 Graphics display driver is installed, you can access S3 ScreenToys by clicking on the taskbar icon. There are both right-click and left-click options.
Or
Right click on an unpopulated area of the Desktop. Select S3 ScreenToys from the Desktop menu.
